📢 why i build in public

June 20, 2026

Building in public is one of the most powerful ways to accelerate your career as a software engineer.

It's not just about showing off your successes; it's about documenting your journey. When you share how you architected a system, the bugs you spent hours debugging, and the lessons you learned along the way, you create value for others.

The Flywheel Effect

Every time you write about what you're learning:

  1. You solidify your own understanding. Writing forces clarity. If you can't explain a concept simply, you probably don't understand it well enough.
  2. You build a surface area for luck. Opportunities come to those who are visible. When you share your work, recruiters, founders, and potential collaborators can find you.
  3. You create a serendipity engine. People who are interested in the same things as you will reach out. You build a network of like-minded individuals.

My Approach

I try to keep it simple. Whenever I finish a project, learn a new technology, or solve a tricky problem, I ask myself: "Would someone else find this useful?" If the answer is yes, I write a quick post about it.

It doesn't have to be a masterpiece. A simple, honest account of your experience is often the most valuable content you can share.

Happy building!
